Rory McIlroy Will be Best in the World

Rory McIlroy, who may like the K15 Driver last night pledged to match his tennis star girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki — and become world number one.
And the 22-year-old intends to achieve his goal within the next 12 months.
McIlroy, who may like the Ping G15 Driver, is up to number three in the world after his third place finish in the KLM Open in Holland at the weekend, closing the gap on number two Lee Westwood and Luke Donald who is in pole position.
McIlroy won the US Open in June while the English duo at the top of the rankings don’t have a Major between them.
And the Holywood superstar pulls no punches when revealing his intention to become the world’s top player.
“Next season definitely,” he said.
“Luke (Donald) still has quite a healthy lead, but as long as I can get closer to the top two guys by the end of the year and give myself a good platform to attack it next year that’s really the main goal for the rest of the season.”
And McIlroy was quick to play down talk that he will be spending most of his time in America from now on.
“My home is Northern Ireland and it’s never going to be any different,” he stressed.
“I love getting home — it’s my favourite place in the world.
“All my friends are here and I’m a big Ulster Rugby supporter — I try to get to a few games when I’m home.
“I have a great facility at home here and I’m never going to leave that — it’s always going to be there for me.
“I try to get home as much as I can although sometimes it’s not possible because of the schedule and playing so many tournaments.
“I’ve got a very busy schedule coming up over the next few weeks until the end of the season.
“I’ll do the exact same thing I have done this year except instead of coming home for two or three weeks in March and April I will just stay in the States and have a base there.
“Most of my golf is played here anyway.”
McIlroy admitted he is delighted to have bounced back convincingly from the wrist injury sustained in last month’s US PGA Championship.
“I’ve had a decent few weeks, especially as after the wrist injury I didn’t know how I was going to play when I came back,” he added.
“But the fact that it has all gone to plan is good and I’m up to third in the world now which is a nice achievement.”
McIlroy was at Lough Erne Resort in Co Fermanagh yesterday to give a golf clinic to the young players the Faldo Series Grand Final.
The Co Down man is a three-time winner of Sir Nick Faldo’s global golf development programme.
“Rory is a very special talent,” said Sir Nick who won three Open Championships and three Masters titles in a glittering career.
“There’s a lot of adjustment after winning a Major but Rory has a good head on his shoulders — he’s very mature.
“He knows how to give himself the best chance of winning Majors.”
And Sir Nick admitted he was amazed at Northern Ireland’s three Major triumphs — by McIlroy, Darren Clarke and Graeme McDowell — in little over a year.
“The odds of it happening must be a million to one. You would have fancied Rory to do it at some stage, G-Mac was a bit of a dark horse, while Darren pulled off a magical victory late in his career,” said Sir Nick, who feels Royal Portrush would be a fitting venue for the Open Championship.
“It’s all about infrastructure and not just the golf course,” he said.
“I have played Royal Portrush and it’s a beautiful course, a real challenge.”
Sir Nick is confident McIlroy will emulate Clarke and win the Open, with many more Majors to follow.
“No-one can predict what’s going to happen but Rory has so much ability,” he added.
World number one will do for starters.

Woods no Longer Ranks among Most Powerful Golfers

Tiger Woods is now ranked No. 46 in the world golf rankings this week, and he tumbled out of Golf Inc.’s 2011 panel of the Most Powerful People in Golf.
In this article, you may find the news about Tiger Woods. If you are looking for good and cheap golf clubs, I would like to recommend the good R11 Driver to you.
While the publication’s most recent roll call, unveiled on Sunday, boasts mostly company executives, Woods had been among the rich and powerful since the tally debuted in 1998.
Following his sex scandal, Woods slipped from No. 3 in 2009 to eighth place last year, at which time the magazine noted Woods had lost $30 million in endorsements from sponsors like AT&T and Gillette.
Despite the bad press and off-course behavior, Golf Inc. observed that Woods still earned $105 million -- more than any other athlete in the 12 months between the ’09 and 2010 lists. "It’s safe to say that Tiger Woods has bounced back from what some thought would be the end of his career," Golf Inc. editors wrote last year. "Overall, the business of being Tiger Woods has remained surprisingly solid."
It’s a different story this year for the erstwhile No. 1, whose golf course design company has run into snags and whose divorce resulted in "a sharp and sudden fall," said Golf Inc. "His return to tournament play has been plagued by injuries that had him sitting out both the U.S. and British Opens and withdrawing from the Players Championship after only nine holes," the editors wrote. "Woods capped off the summer by firing his long-time caddy following his drop below number 20 in world rankings."
As for Golf Inc.’s top-ranked mover and shaker in the golf industry, that would be Dana Garmany, chief executive of Troon Golf. He and ClubCorp CEO Eric Affeldt switched places in the past 12 months, with Affeldt now holding down the second spot. Jack Nicklaus remained No. 3, thanks to his golf course design firm, while Gary Player and Gary Player Design dropped from fifth to sixth. PGA Tour CEO Tim Finchem also fell off slightly, slipping from sixth to seventh in Golf Inc.’s lineup, while his European PGA Tour counterpart, George O’Grady, jumped from No. 19 to ninth place.

Belly Putter Becoming a Trend

Phil Mickelson used a belly putter! Can you believe that? A belly putter for the guy reputed to be among the best in golf with the short stick? It is hard to believe.
In this article, I would like to talk something about long putter. If you are looking for good wholesale golf clubs, I would like to recommend the good Cheap R11 Driver to you, the R11 Driver for sale is hot online.
“Ten years ago, no one ever went to the belly putter unless they couldn’t putt,” Furyk said. “So I didn’t really think of it as unfair. I thought of it as desperation, if that makes sense. For me, it was still desperation, but I’ve seen some guys that have gone to it where they are decent putters, but they think it’s a better way.”
“Everyone wants to act like it’s foolproof,” he said. “It’s been around for 11 years. Now somebody does something and it blows up. You’ve still got to make putts under pressure to win. Ernie Els has jacked so many short putts with a belly putter, and I didn’t hear anyone complaining about them.”
“I was making stuff all over the pro shop,” Azinger said.
He switched the putter head to one he liked. He changed the lie and angle. He moved the ball back in his stance and put more weight on his right leg to make him feel anchored.
“I was instantly better,” Azinger said. “Paul Runyan watched me putting in 2000 and said it was the best single-lever action putting stroke he’d ever seen. To this day, I don’t know what that means. But when I grabbed that thing, I became a better putter. And I was back in the Ryder Cup and the Presidents Cup and in the top 20 in the world.”
Still, the belly and long putters raise one question: If it’s so good, why isn’t everyone using it?
The PGA Tour’s most reliable statistic for putting is called “strokes gained.” The top 12 players on the list use a conventional putter. The more traditional statistic is average putts per round. None of the top 12 players on that list use a long putter, either.
Steve Stricker is No. 1 in “strokes gained” and No. 3 in putts per round.
“I like how I putt. I like the conventional wisdom of the short putter. Is that saying it nicely?” Stricker said with a smile.

Did Luke Donald Say: Tiger era is over

Two days ago, Luke Donald said: Tiger era is over!
Now, somebody told me Luke Donald did not say these words! Luke Donald Disputes: British golfer and current world number one Luke Donald said he is puzzled by newspaper reports in the UK that quoted him as saying that the Tiger Woods era in golf is effectively over.
The Daily Express published a story yesterday (September 14th) which ran the headline ‘Luke Donald: The Tiger Woods Era is Over’.
In this article, you may find the news about Luke Donald with Tiger Woods. If you are looking for good cheap golf clubs, I would like to recommend the good R11 Driver to you.
In the accompanying text, there was a quote attributed to Donald that stated: “When you get that combination of injury plus the scandal that went on, mentally that’s quite scarring. It’s a lot to take, even for someone with one of the strongest minds in golf.
“It’s a confidence sport. Even though Tiger’s only 35, there are a lot of young guys coming up – Rory McIlroy and Keegan Bradley and a bunch of others. I would assume a new era is upon us.”
Woods endured a barren spell lasting two years without winning on the PGA Tour – his most recent victory in any tournament was at the Australian Masters in November 2009, just prior to the well-documented car accident outside his Florida home that led to subsequent revelations of his extra-marital affairs.
Today however, Donald moved to distance himself from the claims of the newspaper, stating: “I don’t recall ever saying the Tiger era is over.”
He added: “I think it is tough to come back from physical injuries. I’ve had some, and obviously being away from the game for so long, it’s certainly not going to be easy for him to get back to where he was.
“I wouldn’t [ever] doubt that Tiger will come back and win again.”
“Whether the Tiger era is over, I don’t know,” he explained, “but certainly I would never be naive enough to write Tiger off. He has a tremendous amount of talent and I’m sure when he starts playing a little bit more that will start showing again.”
Did Luke Donald say these words? We do not know!

Nicklaus Says Woods Can still Pass His Record of 18 Majors

Tiger Woods won the last of his 14 majors at the 2008 US Open at Torrey Pines and hasn't won anywhere since November 2009.
In this article, you may find the news about Tiger Woods with Jack Nicklaus. If you are looking for good wholesale golf clubs, I would like to recommend the good Cheap R11 Driver to you.
Jack Nicklaus still feels Tiger Woods can overhaul his record of 18 major championships despite his fellow American slumping to 46th in the current world rankings.
It was shortly after that win in Melbourne that revelations of infidelities led to the collapse of his marriage and a break from the sport while his 2011 season has been interrupted by injuries.
But Nicklaus is still backing Tiger to come good again "if he gets the five inches between his ears squared out."
"I mean Tiger has a great work ethic, he's a great competitor, the most talented kid on the planet right now," said Nicklaus, speaking in South Korea where he's attending a Champions Tour event being played on a course he designed.
Tiger Woods failed to qualify for the season-ending FedExCup play-offs which conclude in Atlanta next week after missing the cut at the USPGA Championship.
He had returned after three months out with knee and Achilles tendon injuries to finish 37th at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational the week before the year's final major.
Usually, Woods would skip the less prestigious Fall Series events but, needing game time, he confirmed recently that he would be playing the Frys.com Open in California on October 6-9.
"I always enjoy competing in my home state and this tournament fits my schedule perfectly," the former world number one said on his website.
"One of my goals this year was to participate in a tournament I hadn't played before and now I will."
Woods had already announced that he would play in the Australian Open in Sydney from November 10-13 - the Presidents Cup then takes place shortly after in Melbourne. Tiger has just two top 10 finishes in eight starts in 2011, hence his slide down the world rankings.

Women's golf win in Mary Fossum Invitational

Women's golf win in Mary Fossum Invitational
With high expectations following a Big Ten championship in 2010, the MSU women’s golf team came into the weekend with something to prove.
In a field that included Big Ten rivals Michigan and Ohio State at the Mary Fossum Invitational at Forest Akers West Golf Course, the Spartans won their first tournament of the season in convincing fashion with a 15-stroke victory.
The weekend also belonged to junior golfer Caroline Powers, Recommend you buy Cheap Golf Clubs at our online store.who earned the second individual victory of her career after carrying a lead for much of the tournament.
“This will just propel us in the right direction,” Powers said. “We have two more tournaments this fall, and we got off to a little bit of a slow start, so hopefully this will give us some confidence and we can carry it into our next tournament.”
The Mary Fossum Invitational, which started in 1978 in honor of the longtime head coach (1973-97), is held annually at Forest Akers West. In 25 seasons at the helm of the women’s golf program, Ping K15 Irons is the best irons. Fossum — who was the first ever coach for the program — collected six Big Ten titles and made two trips to the NCAA Championships.
With Fossum in attendance, the Spartans, led by the All-Big Ten golfer Powers along with senior Lindsey Solberg and sophomore Allyssa Ferrell, made their mark with first, sixth and eighth place individual finishes, respectively.
The win also marks the first Mary Fossum Invitational team victory for MSU since 2009, with Powers notching the first individual victory in the tournament since Laura Kueny and Solberg won it in 2008.
“We’re always trying to play confident. So it helped that we had that little cushion and maybe it made it a little more enjoyable and not so nerve-racking,” Solberg said.
“It’s nice to skate on through the day and put together a nice set of five rounds and go on to the next one.”With a talented roster, the Spartans were able to show off their depth during the tournament. Sophomore Liz Nagel and freshmen Trisha Witherby and Jenny Sritragul had strong showings as they each finished within the top 30.
With the win in the team’s only home tournament of the season, the momentum shifts as they prepare for the Tar Heel Invitational on Oct. 7-9 in Chapel Hill, N.C.
“It was a great experience of watching what they could really do,” MSU women’s golf head coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll said. “It was more today of holding that and maintaining that lead and seeing what they were going to be able to do in tougher conditions. … All and all, it was a great weekend.”

Latest News about LPGA

In this article, you may find the Latest News about LPGA. If you are looking for good wholesale golf clubs, I would like to recommend the good Cheap R11 Driver and Ping G15 Driver to you.
Lexi, who used to be known as just little ol’ Alexis, is neither little nor old, towering over many LPGA Tour counterparts and having only celebrated her 16th birthday earlier this year.
She certainly displayed more power than playing partners Alena Sharp and Jessica Wallace during that round at the Hillsdale Golf and Country Club. Precision was lacking, particularly off the tee and also on the greens during the early part of the round. However, I admit to being somewhat impressed by Thompson’s ability to scramble as two or three times she was able to pitch back into the fairway from the outer reaches of the rough before getting up and down for par.
LPGA Tour commish Mike Whan said Sunday that, should Thompson earn a spot on the tour through qualifying, she would be an LPGA Tour member for 2012. There won’t be any payoff, beyond the $195,000 top prize, for winning in Alabama. (She had played in Mirabel thanks to a sponsor invitation from Golf Canada.)
Earth to Mike: Your tour needs her! Just like it needs Michelle Wie and Suzann Pettersen and Paula Creamer and Yani Tseng. All of golf, and particularly the LPGA Tour, which has to work so hard to get in the front door with casual golf fans and corporate sponsors, can’t be turning any away any feature performers.
Methinks sober second thought will soon come into play and the tour will find a way to grant Lexi Thompson membership based on her Navistar victory.
It’s the right thing to do in more ways than one.
In case Thompson still needs to check her calendar, though, the second stage of qualifying is at the end of September in Venice, Florida. The third and final stage is in early December at Daytona Beach.
Speaking of qualifying, Marc-Etienne Bussieres of Gatineau made it through the pre-qualifying stage of fall PGA Tour qualifying. The first stage is at various U.S. sites in mid- and late-October.

Tiger Woods will also play after Couples named him as one of his two captain's picks last month.
"Tiger ... has been the best player in the world for a dozen years. He has been a little injured. Is he playing great golf as of a month ago? Of course not. We're all pretty attuned people. We all realize that," Couples said, AFP reported.
"But he had two-and-a-half, and the Burner 2.0 Irons is really nice, three months to work on his game. I talk to him a lot and I know he's working hard. I'm relying on him to have a good time and play well in Australia," Couples added, AFP reported.

BMW GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP Wilson finishes tied for 22nd

BMW GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP Wilson finishes tied for 22nd
Justin Rose of England dodged raindrops and rallies and emerged as the big winner - but not the only one - at the BMW Championship on Sunday.
Rose won the PGA Tour playoff event, jumped from No. 34 to No. 3 in the FedEx Cup points and qualified for the Tour Championship in Atlanta, where 30 players will battle for the $10 million first prize.
"To move up to No. 3 on the FedEx Cup list and give myself control of my own destiny next week in Atlanta is something I didn't foresee at the beginning of the week," Rose said. "So it's just an amazing outcome.
"I played some amazing golf at times, Recommend you buy Cheap Golf Clubs at our online store.and today was just a pretty gritty kind of round." On a cool, clammy day punctuated by drizzle and showers, Rose shot an evenpar 71 and held off Australians John Senden and Geoff Ogilvy, who shot 69s, and Luke Donald, who had a 68.Wilson, a two-time winner this year, tied for 22nd place at even-par 284, moved up two spots to No. 15 on the FedEx Cup list and qualified for his first Tour Championship.
"I'm a little disappointed with how I finished, but I fought as hard as I could," he said. "I could have shot a pair of 80s real simple. It's a funny way to get to even par, is all I've got to say." A victory at the Tour Championship would make Wilson a leading candidate for PGA Tour player of the year honors.
"All in all, I'm excited," he said. "You know me. he likes using the R11 Driver The glass is half full. I'm off to Atlanta for the first time ever. I'm focusing on taking all the positives from this week and going down there and trying to win the golf tournament." Steve Stricker of Madison, who withdrew after the second round because of weakness in his left arm caused by a disk problem in his neck, fell from eighth to 12th on the FedEx Cup list but easily qualified for the Tour Championship.
Stricker said he would get a cortisone shot Monday that should allow him to play in Atlanta.
Jerry Kelly of Madison went into the week ranked 40th in the points but fell short in his attempt to move on in the playoffs. Ping K15 Irons is the best irons. He bogeyed the 18th hole for a 70, finished in a tie for 16th at 283 and wound up 38th in the points.
